Mirror, Mirror, on the wall,
Who is the Fairest of them all?
In the sequel to UnEnchanted, Mina Grime discovers that
all is not fair when it comes to the Fae and their tales, especially when they
don’t all play by the rules. Barely surviving the Story’s first fairy tale
quest, Mina still has hundreds to go before she can end the curse on her
family. But a new player arises to challenge Mina while new rules revamp the
game she has just barely begun to understand.
All the while, people are mysteriously disappearing,
including Jared, who Mina must finally determine to be friend or foe. And with
the loss of her greatest weapon, Mina must try to outwit a deadly hunter. Can
Mina survive the most difficult quest yet while protecting those she loves from
falling victim to one of the deadliest tales of all? Or will she become a pawn
when she strikes a bargain with the Queen of Fae?
I really loved this book, but there were some things that
I less then loved. I was happy to see
that there were less grammatical mistakes in the sequel then the first. I cannot complain because the first book was
free and a rather good book. And I really loved the plot. I found this book to
be faster paced, and had more twists and turns. This book goes more into Mina’s
curse and explains many of the parts left vague in the first book. The only problem I have with this book is
that in the first book we learn that Fae cannot lie, only bend the truth, but
in this book is seems as if the Fae can outright lie to Mina. I really love the story line, the author
really created a unique story that is unlike any other I have read before.
I really loved some of the characters and hated
others. I have always disliked
Brody. There is something about him that
I just cannot warm up to. I think it is
the fact that he is just too perfect.
She creates him as the epitome of the perfect boy jock/popular kid. He
always seems superficial and I never really believed he cared for Mina. His
character to me is just so dull, and honestly annoying, which is why I have
always liked Jared. Jared is mysterious,
entertaining, and seems to really care for Mina.
I cannot really tell if I like Mina or not. There are times she makes me laugh, but she is
so caught up in her own drama, and her “love” for Brody that she tends to be a
little shallow. Throughout the whole
book I wanted to jump through the pages and strangle her, but toward the end
she redeemed herself.
The character I was most disappointed in was Nan. In the first book she was sweet, caring, and
loyal. In the second book I found her to
be really stuck up, and didn’t seem to care for Mina. By the end I was just
hoping she wouldn’t get saved. I don’t know
if it was the story making her that way, but I really didn’t like her in this
book, which was sad because she was one of my favorites in the first book.
Over all this book was definitely worth the money I
spent. It has action, and romance, and
is just a really good read. I am hoping there
will be another one.
